RALLY INFORMATION

A 2 night rally berthing mid-stream at the Folly Pontoon. These popular berths are a pontoon only. They are not "walk ashore" and do not have any water or electricity so you will need to be self sufficient. The pontoon is located directly opposite the Folly Inn on the upper reaches of the Medina River, so offer a generally more peaceful experience than the local marinas. You may be required to raft.

To get ashore you will need to use either the Folly Water Taxi (check operating times) or use your own dinghy/tender.

Friday 5 June

Arrival from 14.00. The Berthing Master (VHF72) will direct you to your mooring. The Folly Inn provides facilities such as a water taxi service, toilets and showers.

18.00 Drinks(not BYO) on the terrace at The Folly Inn.

19.00 Dinner at The Cockle, the new restaurant at Island Harbour Marina.

A gentle 15-minute riverside walk (bring a torch for the return) brings you to this stylish restaurant. Expect excellent food — from standout specials like Tomahawk steak and lobster to a well-priced menu of quality dishes (mains £18–22) in a relaxed but refined setting.

Please confirm if you’ll be joining dinner so we can reserve a club table — it’s very popular! Payment by boat name on the night.

Saturday 6 June

A day to stretch your legs, explore or simply relax aboard.

11:00 Optional scenic walk to Newport (approx. 2.4 miles / 50 minutes) along the beautiful Medina Greenway. Newport is the county town of the Isle of Wight and its primary commercial centre. Located on the River Medina, it features historic Georgian/Victorian architecture with numerous shops, pubs and coffee shops.

Quay Arts is recommended for coffee – a charming arts centre in a converted 19th-Century warehouse with waterside terrace and excellent homemade cakes. For lunch, try the pub next door, The Bargeman’s Rest – a favourite for real ales and home-cooked pub food by the river.

If you don’t fancy the walk back, hop on the No 5 bus to Whippingham Forge with a 10 minute walk back to the Folly pontoon.

19.30 hrs – Rally Dinner at The Folly Inn.

Enjoy a lively evening at this historic riverside inn, whose origins date back to an 18th-century smuggler’s barge. With live music from 20:00, expect a great atmosphere — and possibly some dancing!

Club table booked for 19.30. Please confirm you will be joining us so we can firm up numbers. Payment by boat name on the night.
